It's a Carnival!

Car-ni-val [kahr-nuh-vuhl]
noun
1. A traveling amusement show having sideshows, rides, etc.

2.
any merrymaking, revelry, or festival, as a program of sports or entertainment: a winter carnival.

3.
the season immediately preceding Lent, often observed with merrymaking; Shrovetide.

Though it was after Lent and there weren't any rides and we were all trapped inside due to rain there was plenty of . . .
MERRYMAKING!!!
Peter's Birthday Carnival was a smashing success.

There was Carnival food complete with:
hotdogs, watermelon, popcorn, soda and animal crackers.

50+ vanilla vanilla cupcakes!

And a PINATA!

Thank you Toro for all the candy!

There were few children in attendance,
mostly there were adults acting like children.

7 ways to tell it's FESTIVAL time!

#1
If you're standing in a crowd.
It's festival time.

#2

If you see any royalty in Louisiana!
It's gotta be festival time.

#3
If you see a wagon of girls wearing crowns go by
(no you're not in Disney Land).
It's just festival time.

#4
If you see a firetruck that ain't in a hurry.
It must be festival time.

#5
If you see young girls with loads of
beads wrapped around their necks.
And not so young women fighting 'bout a little prize.
You got it, it's festival time.

#6
If you find yourself yelling "Throw me something Mister!"
That's right, must be festival time.

#7
If you see masses of signs for fried . . . anything.
Festival time!

#8

If you see a little old woman in a wheel chair . . .
then better go help, festival time or not!

Thanks Ponchatoula for the Strawberry Festival.
We had a grrrreat time!

See you next year!

What's all the fuzz about?

What could this be?
Want a closer look?

Meet the Buck Moth.

Watch out!
These caterpillars aren't so nice.
Sure they look fuzzy, but that fuzz is actually
spikes of painful poison that if touched can hurt for weeks.

These little critters are all over the ground here in NOLA.
This picture was taken at the Zoo.
There was a security guard watching this tree to ensure the children's safety.

Here's something cuter!
Peter enjoying a pear.

And a silly picture of his buddy Luke!

Goodnight Elvis!

Pitter Patter of little feet . . .
can only mean one thing.

He's at it again!

He loves this shelf.

See the love in his eyes.

One . . .
by . . .
one . . .

. . . they all come down!

Hard Times, not for babies.

The Brothers Karamazov puts him to sleep.

Wuthering Heights is good even upside down.

Where did they all go?

Oh, there they are.

So many great books.

"I think I'll take this Karamazov to bed with me."

"Wait, I gotta say goodnight to the King."

"Goodnight Elvis!"
See you tomorrow.

Busy Baby Part Two

Guess who?

Yep, it's me!
Welcome to the living room.

I've already been busy playing.
I get all my toys out from this basket.

What treasures will I find today?

Ooooh, this is neat!

What does this do?

What's in there?

I'm going to have to work on this later.

Moving on. . .
time to look for buttons.

Ahhhh ... my favorite button.
Instant gratification jumbo sized!

Well on to the next adventure!
I'll pick up these toys on my way back through.

Busy Baby Part One

Hey welcome to my room!

This is where I play ... and occasionally sleep.

Come on, I'll show you around.

Here's my box of toys.

Mostly I like to walk around it,
put things on and take things off it,
and stand by it.

I'm good at getting up and down.

Come over here.

This is my shelf of FUN!
I usually pull everything off it at least twice a day.

Now for my favorite thing ...

... my box of books.
Mommy reads them to me.
Mostly I pull them all out.

I make sure to bite each one.

These teeth are good for lots of things,
but I don't have time to tell you 'bout that right now.

I gotta go!
There's more rooms to see.

Later!
