swamp fest!

We went to Swamp Fest at the Audubon Zoo a few weeks ago. They did an elephant show:

Peter was more interested in his Mom than in the elephants on parade:

Mostly, Swamp Fest is like any other day at the zoo, except there are lots of local Cajun and Zydeco bands. Check out Dwayne Dopsie & The Zydeco Hellraisers:

There was a good crowd of people who came just to listen and dance all day

Check out the Swamp Fest food options. Too bad Swamp Fest comes but once a year!

It was a tough choice. We went from line to line. But how could be pass on a soft shell crab po' boy sandwich?

We'll definitely be back next year.

Twas the Feast of St Nicholas, and all through the house...

December 6th is the Feast of St Nicholas. Family tradition is to gather that night to eat good food and to decorate the house for the holidays. See - here are some decorations:

We feasted on ham with pineapple and cherries, au gratin potatoes (with fancy gruyere cheese!), and sparkling pear cider:

Last night was Peter's first feast. We put him in charge of the gingerbread house, and he was a good little helper:

Yes, a good helper - that is, until he got distracted by crazy, springy Santa Claus:

Here is one of our 4 nativity sets:

After the house was decorated and Peter had gone to bed, we watched that old holiday favorite, The Jazz Singer starring Neil Diamond

What does a mathematician do all day?

Amanda comes to visit me in my office sometimes.

It's so much fun. Here's what she thinks I do all day:

That's about right, actually. Here's Pete's ideas what his Dad does in the office thinking chair:

Nap Time

Red Sweater Revisited

Pete has grown a lot since he last wore his red sweater.

It fits better now, in fact it is almost too small.

He sits better in his little rocker.

He likes to play with his hands, and anything he can get his hands on.

Whoa, don't fall out!

Oh, what's wrong?

Just kidding!

Ahhh, time to relax.

Do you like my new do?

Look'n goooood!

They call me "Mr. Happy"!

Lost interest. Must be time to go.

Gramma Sue Sue visits

First stop the Aquarium

Ooooh , pretty!

Everyone has to see Nemo.

This guy did lots of tricks for us.

Mom, and all the little kids, got to touch a sting ray.
She made friends with every kid we saw.

We then went on the "River Walk" to find some biegnets.

Mom and Petey needed a break.
They took the chance to become better acquainted.

Awe the biegnets!!

Sue Sue was quite entertaining for Peter.

We enjoyed the biegnets so much that we thought
we'd have more French Pastry.
(not all in one day)

Yah, I'd say you can tell they're related.

It was so nice to have Sue Sue visit.
We got to go to the Temple for the first time in 7 months.

Thanks Gramma Sue Sue! Please come again soon!

Peter will keep a look out for you.
